Jose Burciaga Jr. Named Head Coach of McKinney Chupacabras Ahead of Inaugural USL League Two Season

McKinney, TX – The McKinney Chupacabras are proud to announce former Major League Soccer (MLS) standout and local soccer legend Jose Burciaga Jr. as the club’s first-ever head coach. A North Texas native, Burciaga brings a wealth of professional playing experience and a deep commitment to developing the next generation of soccer talent.

Burciaga enjoyed a highly decorated MLS career, playing 132 matches and scoring 14 goals, many of them spectacular. A 2004 U.S. Open Cup Champion and MLS Cup runner-up with the Kansas City Wizards, Burciaga earned MLS Best XI and team MVP honors in 2006, solidifying his place among the league’s top talents. His community efforts were also recognized when he was named MLS Humanitarian of the Year in 2008 for his work with the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Passback Program and his own Jose Luis Burciaga Jr. Foundation, which fosters youth development through sports, education, and community service.

Burciaga’s legacy includes one of MLS’s “Top 50 Moments”, a thunderous goal in the 2004 MLS Cup final against D.C. United, a testament to his attacking prowess.

Now, he’s ready to bring his passion and leadership to McKinney as the Chupacabras embark on their first-ever USL League Two campaign.

“I am excited to be given the opportunity to be the head coach of the McKinney Chupacabras!” said Coach Burciaga. “I am looking forward to leading our team to success on and off the field. I want to thank Micheal Hitchcock, Ed Puskarich, and Shawn Culbertson for this great opportunity. I cannot wait to see and meet all our great fans! DALE CHUPACABRAS!
