Jose Burciaga Jr.
A North Texas native, Burciaga brings a wealth of professional playing experience and a deep commitment to developing the next generation of soccer talent. Burciaga enjoyed a highly decorated MLS career, playing 132 matches and scoring 14 goals, many of them spectacular. A 2004 U.S. Open Cup Champion and MLS Cup runner-up with the Kansas City Wizards, Burciaga earned MLS Best XI and team MVP honors in 2006, solidifying his place among the league’s top talents. His community efforts were also recognized when he was named MLS Humanitarian of the Year in 2008 for his work with the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s Passback Program and his own Jose Luis Burciaga Jr. Foundation, which fosters youth development through sports, education, and community service.
Burciaga’s legacy includes one of MLS’s “Top 50 Moments”, a thunderous goal in the 2004 MLS Cup final against D.C. United, a testament to his attacking prowess.
Now, he’s ready to bring his passion and leadership to McKinney as the Chupacabras embark on their first-ever USL League Two campaign. Head Coach, Jose Burciaga Jr. is excited to be the first head coach of the McKinney Chupacabras FC ahead of their inaugural 2025 season.
